This is what happens . . .

. . . when I wait until the last minute to try to do something fabulous and new for a social event. These were supposed to be cookie pops (in the shape of daisies) to be used in a cookie bouquet (cute, right?) I was planning on making for a co-worker who was starting another job. The problem? I waited until the last minute to get all my supplies, including the daisy shaped pans. Instead of following the specific cookie dough recipe on the pan package, I decided to speed things up and purchased refrigerated cookie dough.

When these came out of the oven, looking like alien daisies on steroids, I decided to try to salvage my project and just use the tulip & butterfly cookie cutters I had picked up. Unfortunately, the steroids were mixed thoroughly throughout the dough and even these "cookie cutter" cookies were in no condition to frost. I mean, really, no amount of frosting was going save these. So I ended up with ginormous sugar cookies for me & TheHusband for a couple weeks (talk about sugar rush), and I made a quick stop at the grocery store on the way to work (sad, I know, but I couldn't show up to a pot luck empty handed).

So the moral of the story? Do NOT wait until the last minute to try making/baking something new. I mean I love to think I'm fabulous and all, but seriously the only thing that would have been worse, is if I would have burned them.

If anyone has a good recipe for sugar cookie dough, and by good I mean dough that doesn't expand much, I would really appreciate a heads up. I'd still love to make a cookie bouquet. I mean what can beat cute and delicious?

Did you ever get a good recipe for sugar cookies? I have my grandma's rollout cookie recipe and also shawn's mom's recipe. Both are good to eat, but not sure they will work for what you want them for. Let me know and I will send them to you.

Someone did send me a couple suggestions for making the store bought refrigerated dough to work, but I haven't had a chance to try them out yet.

I would love to try any recipe you could send. Even if they don't work for cookie pops, it's great to have time tested delicious recipes in the arsenal. =)
